Willow bark as a supplement for horses

The white willow, also called Salix alba, willow or common willow, is a tree in the willow family on which yellow catkins appear in spring. However, it is the bark (the living part of the tree just below the bark) that has beneficial properties. This is because willow bark naturally contains the active ingredient salicin.
